Capitol Region Flat Coated Retriever Club (CRFCRC) Fall Field Event: Our
September 5th event, the Marks, Drills and Fun Day, that got blown away by a
tornado warning, will be conducted at Cheltenham Retriever Training Area, starting at 8AM on November 20.
Agenda:
Our Drill Sergeants are Mark and Judy Delventhal. They'll punctuate the drills with lots of marks to keep the dog's interest up! Drills are an important technique in field training. There are drills to reinforce multiple marks, handling, lining and other aspects field work. Depending on the number of dogs that show up, we may split into two groups, one for dogs not yet at the Junior Hunter level, and one for dogs with a JH and working to advanced levels. Mark and Judy will teach us the drills and give us a chance to run at least a few dogs through them.
After lunch, Mark and Judy will concentrate on marks and series that you train by yourself or with one other person. For example, how to set up triples with one other person, how to build memory by yourself, chair marks, etc.
If you are not a field person but think you might want to be, come out and get acquainted with some of the skills field dogs build!
Plan to bring a lunch and stay all day.
Cheltenham is East of US 301 about four miles south of Rosaryville, MD where we just had the annual reunion. From the Washington Beltway take MD 4 East to US 301. Take US301 South, about 8 miles, to Cherry Tree Crossing. There is a flashing yellow light at Cherry Tree Crossing Road and it is directly opposite the Veteran's Cemetery. Turn Left on Cherry Tree Crossing, cross the railroad tracks, then take a right at the next road (still Cherry Tree Crossing). Go under the high Voltage lines and turn left into the next driveway and then bear left at the fork. There will be CRFCRC signs at the entrance to the property.
Come on out and joins us, even if you haven't tried field events. Bring puppies too; puppies are the most fun!
